Music, Drama & Performing Arts

Music, Drama and Performing Arts play a vital role in developing confidence, communication, creativity and self-expression at Longwill. We believe that all children, regardless of their level of hearing, should have the opportunity to experience and enjoy the performing arts.

Creativity, Confidence and Communication

Through music, drama and performance, pupils develop confidence, express themselves creatively and celebrate their unique talents.

Music

Pupils explore rhythm, beat, movement, vibration, percussion instruments and music technology through accessible learning experiences.

Drama

Through role-play, storytelling and performance, pupils develop communication skills, emotional literacy and confidence.

Performance

Children regularly perform to audiences, celebrating their achievements and developing stage presence and self-belief.

Accessible Arts Education

Our curriculum is carefully adapted to ensure that Deaf pupils can fully access and participate in musical and performance experiences.

Children explore rhythm, beat, movement, vibration, visual cues, signed songs, percussion instruments and music technology. Through these experiences, pupils develop an understanding of musical concepts whilst building confidence and enjoyment.

Performances at Longwill

Performances are an important part of school life and provide meaningful opportunities for pupils to celebrate their talents and achievements.

Throughout the year, children take part in assemblies, showcases, Christmas productions, community performances and our popular Longwill's Got Talent competition.
